The project includes a survey within the water and the agricultural sector to identify climate change mitigating project ideas suitable for emission trading and as an input to attract further investments to Bangladesh.
The main tasks include identification of potential (programmatic) CDM projects, screening of the project ideas and development of two PINs. In particular for programmatic CDM project activities, ensuring the right setup of the project activity is a pre-requisite for successful project implementation. This is both due to lack of prevailing practice for these kind of project activities as well as it is considered a challenge to coordinate activities among a large group of smaller project implementers.
The overall objective of phase II of the assignment was to support the development and implementation of a programmatic CDM project on solar irrigation in Bangladesh.
The specific objective is to support the development of a solar irrigation project by technical assistance to prepare the draft p-CDM documents needed for the validation of the project as wells as to support the set-up of a managing entity.
